AUBERGE DE BOENDAEL

Master Louis-Joseph Paris, Forest-guard of the wood of Soignes for H.M. Marie-Thérèse, build his home house in 1756, on the spot of three little houses from the 17th Century, to make it a farm, a cabaret, and occasionally a Law Court and an auction room. Located a few steps from the University of Brussels, a corner of countryside in the city: the "Auberge de Boendael" invites you to taste nowadays its famous cuisine, and you will be enchanted by the charm of this old post inn. Léon of Brussels is a simple story that began over a century ago. Léon opened his first restaurant a short walk from the Grand Place, and move to Rue des Bouchers in 1903: the first "Friture Léon" was born. Nearly a hundred years later the famous restaurant now occupies nine neighbouring buildings and can accommodate 400 dinners -a veritable institution ! Of course, when the name Léon is mentioned, we immediately think of mussels. But the menu also offers 175 other dishes, going from monkfish with leeks to a half lobster, through eels in green sauce, fillet steak, Flemish Carbonnades…
